“Anne
is such a pleasure to work with, her excellent attention to detail
and uninhibited creativity can sometimes be taken for granted as she
handles one challenge after the next. I would highly recommend her
to anyone who needs a top notch calligrapher.” Anne Sheedy is a professional calligrapher with over 20 years experience. Her corporate and social calligraphy clients in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe have included The New York Historical Society, Thornwillow Press, |

Yale University, Tiffany’s, Patek Philippe, The Japan Society and The French Consulate in New York City, and countless happy wedding couples. Special commissions include creating tributes, Ketubot and one-of-a-kind family heirlooms. Her calligraphy is referenced in the popular wedding site, www.theknot.com, and shown in the published journals of William F. Buckley.
She tailors
calligraphy to her clients’ needs. Anne often creates new styles or
variations of standard offerings to match a particular
occasion, setting or design scheme drawing on her deep grounding in

Born and raised in San Francisco and educated in London, Rome and New York City, Anne has studied calligraphy and design with many contemporary masters including the White House calligraphers and one of the Heraldry Artists for Her Majesty’s College of Arms. Despite such wide-ranging study, Anne comes by her vocation as a family inheritance. Her first teacher was her mother, professional graphic artist and calligrapher Betty Jean Sheedy, and her first calligraphy job was in Italy as her mother’s assistant, helping to illustrate the book “Two Thousand Years in Rome.” Sheedy’s professional memberships include the Society of Scribes in NYC, the Friends of Calligraphy in San Francisco, Philadelphia Calligraphers’ Society, IAMPETH (The International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and |

Handwriting) and the Society of Scribes and Illuminators in London.
In addition to her calligraphy work, Anne has lovingly restored rare
documents including those from the White House. She is also a
classical musician and published author. “As a member of the Friends of Music Committee at Yale, I had an opportunity to work with Anne Sheedy on two occasions: one was to create the invitations and concert programs for fund raising projects; another was to hand letter inscription inserts for rare manuscripts and books as gifts from the university to our more generous contributors. In both of these cases she was able to recreate or match the Colonial lettering styles we wanted. Her work is flawless, her professionalism consummate, her manner refreshing. ” -- MAURY YESTON, former Director of Undergraduate Studies in Music at Yale University, Tony Award winning Broadway composer/lyricist and educator, BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, NYC |
